WILDER BLUFF PARK (Shawnee)

Friends, I have been jazzed about this park for a LONG time, and it does not disappoint! Officially opening tomorrow, Wilder Bluff is Shawnee’s newest and now ranks among the best splash pads in JoCo. First, the splash pad is awesome – large, a wide variety of sprays, a cool mini waterfall, a tiny bridge, and plenty of stones around to sit on. Then there’s the treetop adventure ending with a tunnel slide! You can access it easily from the top of the hill, or you can climb up the large rope ladder. The only swings are the two circular web swings, and next to those you have more climbing equipment (one of which feels like a sweet little clubhouse.) And don’t forget the hillside slide. There’s a 1.38 mile trail to walk or bike on, and a large shelter with fireplace and a buffet ledge with power outlets. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be here the rest of the summer. 😎
Restrooms: yes – new and clean!
Parking: small lot provided
Shade: some near the treetop canopy, but overall not much
Grill: there is a fireplace in the shelter
Geocaches: someone already created one close to the playground. Shawnee folk love their geocaching!
Nearest local coffee: not far at all is @countryclubcafe, a charming spot for coffee, smoothies, breakfast and lunch!
