ANTIOCH PARK | Shawnee Area Moms

(Merriam) 6501 Antioch Rd

If you’ve never been to Antioch Park, you are missing something special. According to the JCPRD website, it’s JoCo’s oldest and most popular park with 700,000 visitors annually. This park has something for everyone (and I wish I could share more than ten photos at once!) Multiple play structures will wear out kiddos of all ages. There are two smaller railroad themed structures for toddlers. Dodge Town was renovated a couple years ago and it’s so much fun (though I think the jail complete with escape tunnel is by far the most popular section.) Multiple swings including a friendship swing, which my kids love to swing in together. This entire park is beautiful with trails all around (a hundred prime spots for family photos), basketball and tennis courts, bocce court, horseshoe pits, fishing lakes, and rose garden. We rented Shelter #4 right by the lake for my daughter’s birthday last fall and it worked out perfectly! This is a must see park, but go on a weekday and as early as you can to avoid the crowds.

Restrooms: yes (climate controlled!)
Parking: multiple lots provided
Shade: good morning and evening shade on the playgrounds and many shaded benches for parents
Grill: yes, several

Geocaches: there are several scattered throughout the park.

Nearest local coffee: check out @fillingstationcoffee on Johnson Drive for your coffee fix, which offers online ordering and curbside pickup!

Special thanks to Kate @jocoparkmom for this park highlight!!
